Starting to use Yahoo! Search Engine Marketing 0
Just as soon as I proclaimed that I was going to stick with Google Adwords and a landing page to make my first profitable campaign, I read some things that got me thinking I should maybe open up my approach a bit. You see, I mainly want to stick with just a couple systems so that I get comfortable working with them before moving onto the next system. An example of this is using Google Adwords solely until I get it figured out and feel comfortable working with it before I start using any other search marketing advertising programs, such as MSN, Yahoo! and the like.
Well, I watched a couple videos recently that indicated I should maybe look at using Yahoo! Search Marketing to get into some lower competition for certain niches. Google Adwords is apparently super saturated right now with advertisers from what I’ve read and seen. It’s not such a black and white issue though, with Google being saturated and all. I feel that way because I also get the feeling that even though there are tons of people using Google Adwords at this moment, they are probably not all exactly highly skilled at working the system with Adwords. If I can learn how to work the system with Adwords to get the best results, it should be easier to compete with the saturated competition.
Even with that thought, I decided I should branch out a little right now just to see what I might be missing on, so I signed up for a Yahoo! Search Marketing account and am going to try some PPC there on my current campaign to see what the results look like compared to Google Adwords PPC.
To compare each, I’ve taken my landing page and duplicated it for the Yahoo! traffic – so I’ll be sending my Google traffic to one landing page and my Yahoo! traffic to the other. I’m planning on using the same keywords that have shown to be profitable in Google for my Yahoo! campaign, just to compare and see how the two stack up.
The first thing I noticed is that right off the bat I didn’t have to bid as high on my targeted keywords to get they Yahoo! campaign rolling. In fact, right off the bat it looks like my cost per click might even be less than half of what I’m paying on Google. Interesting, but I’ll have to see how this actually plays out.
Of course, to track everything I’m using Affiliate Prophet.
