Failed blog posts 0

Jul7

It happens to me every now and then. I get a great idea – or at least a seemingly great idea – and start to blog about it. About half way through the post I realize that I just have no idea what point I’m trying to make.

So I just put it in the draft stack and move on.

I just did this just now. I was writing a post about something that I felt passionate about during the beginning stage of writing, but about 10 minutes later I just didn’t give a shit anymore and canned the post. Ha.

At least it led me to writing this one :)

What to do

So… what to do with failed blog posts?

I always get a little attached to the text I just wrote. I mean, come on, I just spent 15 minutes typing and thinking – and now I don’t like it? There must be something wrong with me!

I get so attached to failed blog posts that don’t even get published that I don’t even want to delete them. I’ll stick them in the draft stack.

I should just delete the failed blog posts right away. I never do anything with them after I can them anyways.

That would be the best thing to do, now that I think more about it. If I had the ability to come up with an idea on the spur-of-the-moment and actually type about 300 words within 15 minutes, I certainly should have the ability to quickly delete it if I don’t like it.

It’s not like that failed blog post is a pet or something that I should feel attached to.

Anyways, that’s my afternoon rant.
