Gee-whiz Adsense, really? 0
I recently posted a new article to particular web site of mine today. The article started out with the word “Wow”. In this context, Wow was referring to my being amazed about something. How did Adsense interpret that word?
All the ads on that particular article page were about World of Warcraft related stuff. Amazing. There was absolutely no content on the page about World of Warcraft. Stupid Adsense, ha!
What’s the deal with that? One word in the title of the article was “Wow” and all the ads on the page are regarding Warcraft. Not even close to the actual topic of the page.
What did I do to correct this? I basically rewrote the article headline to not include the word “Wow”. Instantly all the ads went back to being relevant to the topic of the website and the page.
Does World of Warcraft really carry that much clout in Adsense that a single “Wow” in a headline not even remotely close to being about World of Warcraft can trigger ads related to that time-consuming and addictive game? Apparently. I’ll be more careful with words of amazement from here on out.
