Useful Open Source Applications for Web Design
Beginner or expert, every level of web designer appreciates the powerful capabilities that various open source applications can offer!
I have just run across an excellent article listing 30 Open Source (free) Applications for Web Designers. Read on for the link.
One of the great things about the web design field is that if you are resourceful, you can probably find a free application for most of your needs, saving yourself a lot of money. Of course, there are certain standard applications in the web design industry that some might not be able to get by without, such as Adobe Flash.
But, those types of huge industry-standard applications are few and far between compared to the applications available to do other specialized tasks during work or play. Examples of the types of free apps on this list:
- FTP
- Graphics
- Image editing
- Coding
- Testing/debugging
This is great news for all avenues of web design.
If you are a professional web designer that works for various clients, you probably know about a lot of these tools. I know that I have for sure used a few of the apps on the list.
However, I also saw a lot of applications on this list that I hadn’t heard of, enough so that I’ll now have to spend a least a couple hours distracted and trying some of them out!
