Google PR Update, Should I Care?

So I noticed that a bunch of my newer sites gained some PR, when I was looking through them with the SEO Book toolbar yesterday. Interesting. One site is only about 7 months old and it went from PR0 to PR3, and that is just one example. Woohoo!

Or, is it not really that big of a deal?

The only thing that I like about looking at PR is that it gives me a relative idea of how much Google values my sites in general. I don’t put too much weight on PR, but it’s something you can’t really ignore either. Let’s face it, when link building for example, it doesn’t hurt to try to get links from high PR pages. Regardless of whether or not the exact PR value has anything to do with anything, it is at least an indicator of general strength and authority in the eyes of the search engines.

So yeah, I’m kind of excited about the fact that some of my sites jumped in PR, that’s great. It shows me that Google is putting some trust and holding my sites in decent regard. And even the newer sites even saw some PR gains. Interesting.
