I’ve recently bailed out of yet another failed campaign. But, I’m not going to abandon this campaign completely. I’m thinking that I just need to work on my landing page techniques a bit and then revisite some of these campaigns that have failed.
In fact, I’m now moving away from the small one-page landing pages and will probably try the approach of putting together blog style web sites for some affiliate campaigns.
As I sit here and try to figure out what I want to work on next, I ponder. What have I learned so far when it comes to affiliate marketing? I’ve come a long way in a few months, but I still have a long way to go.
Here’s a few general bullet points regarding what I’ve learned and what I’ve experienced up until this point. Reviewing this makes me realize how much of a beginner I am right now, ha!
Well, my next campaign failed miserably. I didn’t even get one sale over a large number of clicks. It was an Adwords/Landing Page/Clickbank campaign.
However – I’m not wholly disappointed. This failed campaign was my first attempt at using Google Cash Automator (part of Google Cash Detective) to track and optimized a campaign so I got a good bit of experience on how to set all that up and use the system.
Just as soon as I proclaimed that I was going to stick with Google Adwords and a landing page to make my first profitable campaign, I read some things that got me thinking I should maybe open up my approach a bit. You see, I mainly want to stick with just a couple systems so that I get comfortable working with them before moving onto the next system. An example of this is using Google Adwords solely until I get it figured out and feel comfortable working with it before I start using any other search marketing advertising programs, such as MSN, Yahoo! and the like.
It’s hard, but I’m still trying to stay focused on just coming up with that one profitable campaign. I’m still moving in the right direction. It’s just a matter of time.
Recently, one of my secret weapons has become Google Cash Detective. Bear with me here. I’m still a newbie and still trying to figure things out, but this tool has proved to make certain things much easier.

I have a single PPC/Landing Page/Clickbank style campaign that I’m testing. I was breaking even, getting ready to start trying to shift it to the profitable side. Then I started getting refunds! These shifted me back into the loss category. I’m about ready to give up on this particular Clickbank product as it seems a little volatile.
Well, here I am, posting my second entry on this web site. I’ve learned a couple things over the last month or so.
Prioritizing.
I’ve recently been overwhelmed by stuff at work. In addition to that, a car accident set me back a week as well. What does this have to do with affiliate marketing? I’m just starting out and need to do this stuff in my spare time – and that spare time has been rare over the last month.
I’ve decided recently that my single goal as a relatively newbie affiliate marketer needs to be to get a single profitable campaign going. What a revelation! Beneath all of the stuff that confounds me from day to day that is the bottom line and I need to focus on that.
